My American CS host leads me over to his 'home away from home', the cafe/bar...
Dave and Jakub rolling some cigarettes at the bar...
good times at this place, whether you are having Kofola, beer, or whatever.... 😉
sunset in the main plaza in Brno... that big black thing to the left is some sort of clock!
there was a sand sculpture exhibit on the plaza... how do they keep it from deteriorating?
a big azz hockey sand sculpture
sun setting over Brno, from the Namesti Svobody
dusk walking tour
colorful cafe below
women at work in the ice cream shop
back at the old cafe/bar, the Kavarna Svanda
chillin' at Dave's place with other CS'ers, including a French hippie and a young German couple from Nuremberg
view from Dave's window... an awesome plaza with outdoor market only half-block that way....
sights from Dave's window!
Dave's old apartment complex
headed out for some sight-seeing
walking through the lovely market
the spires of the Katedrala Svateho Petra a Pavla tower over the market...
many kinds of fruits and plants for sale here
wandering around the charming market plaza
fruit and vegetable salesmen at your service!
Brno's main plaza, the Namesti Svobody
hanging out with locals and fellow CS'ers, we hit a cafe and the French hippie makes himself an alternative sandwich!
one of many fascinating Brno churches....
walking up the hillside park to the hilltop Cathedral, which towers over the city because of it's hilltop location, almost like a second castle....
lovely city views on the walk up to the 'Katedrala'
a bum sleeping beside the Cathedral walls
at least he has a nice watch, the day's newspaper, and comfortable air mattress!
our group, ever increasing in size, headed up to the Cathedral
the hiding priest!
inside the huge mega-Cathedral... which had creepy SuperBabies galore, but unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos other than this one....
having some smokes right outside the Cathedral door... yay-uh!
next, we climb up to the Spilberk Castle, which had even more great views of the city....
a young monk in contemplation as he looks over the city, beside the ancient city walls.... the yellow and white Brno city flag flies at the castle; looks just like the Austrian flag without the eagle!
The Spilberk Castle towers over the city....
ladies and gentlemen... Brno, Czech Republic
Immediately after getting run out of the castle by a mulleted security guard, because one of our posse was riding around in a scooter, our Czech friend Jakub leads us to a secret entrance of the catacombs, near the castle.
headed down to the tunnel which leads into the earth underneath the castle... no lights, and it's verrrry dark inside!
hidden entrance to the catacombs... yay, we don't pay!
but we only go in a little way...
This great band, composed of young French musicians, called the 'Grabbin Orchestra'... the ROCKED and I bet they make bank from these plaza shows. They attracted quite a crowd in this plaza...
this was a great band! Later at night, a bunch of us went to a bar and watched them give a night concert under the stars... great music!
looking into my beer at Dave's 'home away from home'
the interesting, heavily tagged bathroom... I wonder how that mirror got broken?
If you can read Czech, i'm sure this is an interesting story to read through while taking a piss...
the Czechoslovak bloc-style apartment of my CS hosts, on the outskirts of Prague, to the right...
parks and businesses near the apartment, and easy access to the public transport system, although it took like 30 minutes to get to the city center
the busy Haje Metro station
my first views of downtown Prague, upon emerging from the Metro at the Museum stop....
